Introduction:

The Multi-Omics Facility in School of Life Science and Technology is a scientific research based facility, which not only provides routine biological mass spectrometry services, but also develops new methods/technologies according to the individual requirements from each research group and provides comprehensive support in proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics for research groups in ShanghaiTech University.

The Facility is equipped with advanced mass spectrometry (Q Exactive HF-X, Q Exactive HF, Orbitrap Fusion, TripleTOF 6600, QTRAP 6500+), HPLC for offline fractionation and all necessary hardware and software for routine proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics analyses.

Dr. Hao, the director of the facility, has over 14 years of research experiences in the area of proteomics, published 43 high-quality SCI papers (20 as the first or corresponding author), and achieved innovative research outcomes in proteomic sample preparation, multidimensional chromatographic separation, proteomic data processing and analysis of protein posttranslational modifications using mass spectrometry.

It is not only open to users from Shanghai University, but also outside users. Routine proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics analyses are provided. If large-scale or individualized omics services are necessary, colaboration projects are also possible.

Introduction: Q Exactive™ HF-X  rises to the occasion and sets new standards in sensitivity, performance and productivity. The Q Exactive HF-X Mass Spectrometer uses a high-capacity transfer tube for maximum ion loading, an electrodynamic ion funnel that accomodates and transmits ions over a broader mass range, and a high-field Thermo Scientific™ Orbitrap™ mass analyzer.

Specification: scan speed of up to 40Hz;resolution of up to 240,000FWHM.

Applications: proteomics analysis, the support of many quantification methods, including selected ion monitoring (SIM), parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) and data independent monitoring (DIA).

2. High-resolution Mass spectrometry

Model:ThermoFisher Orbitrap Fusion

Email: haopl@shanghaitech.edu.cn

Introduction: The Orbitrap Fusion Tribrid Mass Spectrometer combines the best of quadrupole, ion trap and Orbitrap mass analysis in a revolutionary Tribrid architecture to provide unprecedented depth of analysis and ease of use.  This instrument enables scientists analyzing the most challenging low-abundance, high-complexity samples to identify more compounds faster, quantify more accurately and elucidate structures more thoroughly.

Specification: mass range of 50 to 6000m/z; resolution of up to 500,000FWHM; equiped with the dissociation ETD, CID and HCD

Applications: Wide dynamic range and ultrahigh mass resolution allow identification of more low-abundance proteins with confidence; Ultrahigh mass resolution is ideal for analysis of monoclonal antibodies and other intact proteins; Simple, reliable Thermo Scientific™ EASY-ETD™ ion source (optional) complements CID and HCD data and enhances characterization of complex P™s

3. High-resolution Mass spectrometry 3

Model: ThermoFisher Q Exactive HF

Location: B112, LBuilding, SLST

Contact: Piliang Hao

Tel: 20685416

Email: haopl@shanghaitech.edu.cn

Introduction: Q Exactive™ HF The Q Exactive HF instrument uses a segmented quadrupole mass filter to achieve more precise precursor isolation for better discrimination between analytes and coeluting interferences. An advanced active beam guide increases ion transmission. The result is superior sensitivity and greater quantitative dynamic range, especially when dealing with complex mixtures.

Specification: scan speed of up to 18Hz;resolution of up to 240,000FWHM.

Applications: proteomics analysis, the support of many quantification methods, including selected ion monitoring (SIM), parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) and data independent monitoring (DIA).

4. Mass spectrometry 4

Model: AB Sciex TripleTOF 6600

Location: B112, LBuilding, SLST

Contact: Piliang Hao

Tel: 20685416

Email: haopl@shanghaitech.edu.cn

Introduction: AB SCIEX TripleTOF 6600 System extends the power and features of TripleTOF technology, delivering high performance and reproducibility that can detect virtually every peptide in every run when executing SWATH Acquisition 2.0.  It quantifies thousands of proteins across large sample sets with greater accuracy and reproducibility than ever before.

Specification: MS/MS resolution, up to 30,000 FWHM; scan speed, up to 100 Hz.

Applications: untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics

5. Mass spectrometry 5
